Department Authorization
Eligibility
Admitted students who have had work experience, informal study, or other learning experiences believed to be the equivalent of college work may have this experience evaluated by a university department for possible credit.
Credit
Ball State, upon a recommendation, may grant credit by departmental authorization by the appropriate department. The basis for granting credit may be an oral examination or a review of the applicant’s credentials. The department will determine the courses toward which the credit is to be applied. No grade is given for departmental authorization credit. See a list of credits available by department authorization (PDF).
Procedures
Students must obtain an Application and Certification for Credit by Departmental Examination, Authorization, and Related Field Experience from the appropriate department.
