Public Lecture Leo Tecosky VADS
January 12, 2017 12 a.m.
The School of Art is pleased to announce the next installment in its Visiting Artist, Designer and Scholar presentation series with a public lecture by glass sculpture artist Leo Tecosky on Thursday, Jan. 12th, from 5:30 - 7 pm in AJ 225 in the Arts and Journalism building.
Mr. Tecosky is a Brooklyn, NY based artist who uses geometric patterning from islamic art in conjunction with the stylized typography and iconography of street art to call attention to the beauty of our cultures taboos. Using street art, hip-hop music, and ideas from the 5 Percent Nation as inspiration, Tecosky creates sculptures that are visually pleasing, and offer a conceptual value that is approachable for those seeking to find something deeper than the beauty of the material. Leo works in neon, blown glass, screen printing, and multi-media sculpture.
