Jonathan Snowden is Professor of Flute at Shenandoah
Conservatory and artist-in-residence for the Levine School of Music. A former
professor at The Royal College of Music, he has been invited multiple times by
the British Flute Society, National Flute Association and Flute Society of
Washington to adjudicate, perform and teach. Snowden has given masterclasses at
The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, UNC-Chapel Hill, DIT
Conservatory (Dublin), Trinity Conservatoire London and London College of
Music, among many others. He has an extensive collection of film score
recordings to his credit, including The Dark Knight, The Da Vinci Code, Mr. Holland’s Opus, James Bond and The Mission. His classical solo career
as principal flute and recorded artist spans orchestras such as the London
Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra,
Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, London Chamber Orchestra and many others.
He has given masterclasses sponsored by Brannen-Cooper Brothers, Powell Flutes
in the U.S. and Muramatsu Flutes in Japan and can be heard on a variety of
labels including Naxos, Hyperion Virgin, and EMI labels.
