Bassoonist Benjamin Kamins has established himself as a distinguished performer and teacher. Currently on faculty at Rice University, Mr. Kamins spends his summers teaching at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, and at the International Festival Institute at Round Top in Round Top, Texas. Mr. Kamins has held a number of orchestral positions including associate principal bassoon of the Minnesota Orchestra, and principal bassoon of the Houston Symphony. In addition, he has performed as guest principal bassoon with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
