Engaging Community Series
In engaged universities, community involvement is viewed not as a supplement to a faculty member’s core work, but as an effective way to achieve all three of academia’s primary missions – teaching, research, and service (Furco, 2010).
Our Fall 2017 Engaged Community Series will highlight Ball State faculty who have successfully embedded community engagement across their scholarly pursuits.
Session 3: Service (Thursday, November 16, 9:30 – 10:30 am, BL 104)
Community engagement is often equated solely with service. But with on-campus committee commitments, it can be difficult to find time for any other service activities. Hear from faculty who found ways to integrate their personal community interests into their classrooms and research agendas.
