The College of Communication, Information, and Media is proud to present another speaker in the David Letterman Lecture Series. Eric King Watts will present "Zombie Media and Apocalyptic Preparedness."

Watts, associate professor of media and technology studies at the University of North Carolina, will examine how the zombie media genre is preoccupied with "end-of-days" fantasies that feed the motives of extreme preparedness groups. His talk will focus on Zombie Preppers, a docudrama produced and aired on the Discovery Channel, as an example of how the genre composes a zombie outbreak as plausible. Watts will also speculate on the potential communicative impact brought about by repetitive exposure to and intense consumption of the genre.
