National Nutrition Month 2014

March is National Nutrition Month, and several Ball State departments are teaming up to bring you a month full of events that will equip you for making healthy choices on campus. 

In addition to events, enter your favorite healthy recipe in the Student Recipe Contest for prizes and a chance to see it on a BSU Dining menu.

Looking for healthy options on campus? Sample a featured healthy recipe at each location. Information on a healthy options will also be available at Noyer Retreat and Elliott Dining.

Give yourself the gift of relaxation with a FREE BSU Fit yoga class and post-workout snack.

Worried about the “freshman 15”? From 11:30 a.m.-3:50 p.m., stop by the SRWC lobby to see what it would be like to carry around an extra 20 lbs. each day by trying on our weight suit. Play Nutrition Words with Friends to win prizes, and pick up tips and resources for making healthy choices from campus nutritionists.

Do you know your cholesterol and blood pressure values? Schedule your Working Well biometric screening to learn your numbers. It only takes 15 minutes, and you'll leave with your results in hand! Call 285-9355 to schedule your appointment.

MARCH 19 | 11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Rec Center Lobby | “Healthy” Foods That Aren’t Healthy
Many foods that appear to be healthy aren't. Peer Health Educators will be on hand to show you what to look for on nutrition labels and ingredient lists.

Learn about the Retreat's popular Health Zone Plate, substitution options to create a healthier plate at The Retreat, and how to use NetNutrition to find nutrition information on your favorite choices. Try your nutrition knowledge in Nutrition Jeopardy, and you could earn a chance to be entered into a raffle for a BSU Dining voucher.

Wrap up National Nutrition Month with BSU Dining’s Wellness Nutritionist, Amanda Kruse, RD, CD. You'll learn tips for successfully navigating BSU Dining’s 11 locations without breaking your calorie budget. Please register for this event online via Working Well or by calling 285-9355.

MARCH 27 | 6:15-9 p.m. | TC 121 | Fueling Fitness Health Fair & Presentation
Pick up health-related info from various organizations. At 7 p.m., a speaker will present on “Nutrition 101” and “Caf or Decaf.”
