Rho Lambda

Rho Lambda is the National Sorority Leadership Recognition Society. Ball State University is proud to host the Beta chapter since April 21, 1974 for the women who are members of our social sororities.

The Greek letters "Rho Lambda" stand for "Panhellenic Leadership." Although membership was originally intended for women whose organizations belonged to campus Panhellenics, any sorority woman is now eligible for membership as long as she meets the membership selection criteria.

The purpose this organization is to honor those women within the sorority community who have exhibited the highest qualities of leadership and service to their Greek community and their sorority. They are women who have furthered the ideals and principles of the Greek community throughout their years of sorority affiliation.

Candidates for membership must be nominated by a sorority chapter president, advisor or current Rho Lambda member. Rho Lambda will then extend an invitation for membership to each nominee.

Qualifications for nomination and membership include:

  • Women who, in the opinion of the membership of Rho Lambda, have displayed outstanding leadership, ability, and loyalty throughout their years of sorority affiliation.
  • The woman must be an Active member in their Junior or Senior year of college. She must have been an active, initiated member of her sorority for at least two full semesters.
  • The woman must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at Ball State University.
  • A transfer student is eligible after one full semester at Ball State University, providing she meets the other requirements.
  • A woman must must have an overall grade point average of at least 2.7.
