We encourage you to play a role in your community and get involved. Through local chapters of national organizations and your hall’s council, these organizations provide great ways to develop leadership skills and participate in philanthropic events.

Learn more about the following opportunities:

  • Hall Council: Each residence hall or complex has a hall council to help govern events and activities. All residents in a hall or complex is a member of their hall council. Elections for leadership positions are generally held in the spring or fall, and all students living in a building are encouraged to participate in the nomination and election process. Hall councils are plan regular educational and social events for their hall, adopt a charity for fundraising or donating their time to help, and some halls even develop weekend or overnight field trips for residents to visit other parts of the United States. To get involved in your hall council, talk with your residence hall director or assistant residence hall director.
  • Residence Hall Association (RHA): The mission of the Residence Hall Association is to be a voice for the enhancement of residence life by encouraging academic growth and leadership development through a partnership between the halls and residents within a diverse community.   • National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH): The Ruth Peters Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary of Ball State University provides recognition for those students living in the residence halls who have shown outstanding service, recognition, commitment, and who have provided important leadership in the advancement of the residence halls. NRHH also provides leadership training through their fall and spring leadership conferences. Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Student Action Team (SAT): The Student Action Team educates the Ball State community by promoting awareness of issues through fun programming and community service. Connect with us on Flickr and Facebook.

  • National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS): A premier leadership honor society for sophomores and freshman on Ball State’s campus, whose goal as a national organization is to “build leaders who make a better world.” Through our chapter of NSLS, members take steps towards induction that focus on core leadership skills which help members discover and achieve their goals.
