Beginning in July 2017, initial demolition work to LaFollette Complex begins. Woody/Shales Hall and one wing of Mysch/Hurst Hall will be the first sections to come down.

Built in 1967, the complex houses about 1,900 students. The remainder is slated for demolition in 2021. Alan Hargrave, director of housing, said after studies to look at the very high cost to renovate LaFollette, it was decided to replace the bed spaces with new architecture which responds to students’ needs, and enhances the vibrancy of the total campus.
