Are you feeling peer pressure to do things you don't want to do, don't like to do, or don't think you should do? Peer pressure is real when you are a new college student. Everyone wants to fit in and be liked, and sometimes it seems the easy way to do that is to do "what everyone else is doing."

College is a time to be your own person. Saying no to attending an event or party when you know you need to study or do laundry says to your friends that you know your priorities. Saying no to drinking or smoking says you can make up your own mind about your personal wellness.

The easiest way to combat peer pressure is to know what you value and know what you should do, not what you want to do. If you value having a good college experience, getting good grades, and making yourself and your family proud, then do what you need to do and not what others want you to do.
