Student Honors Council

Founded: October 25, 1979

Student Honors Council (SHC) is the governing body and student voice of the Honors College. SHC is responsible for enriching the honors experience at Ball State and enabling students to take on active leadership roles within the Honors College. All honors students are welcomed and encouraged to attend meetings. Student Honors Council sponsors events for honors students and faculty throughout the year, in addition to selecting the winners of the prestigious Provost and Vanderhill Awards. Other highlights include planning activities for Honors Week, helping with Welcome Week Activities, and having opportunities to attend the regional, Mid-East Honors Association (MEHA) conference and the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) conference. MEHA and NCHC are opportunities for honors students to present academic research findings, to further expand academic knowledge, and to connect with honors students and faculty from other colleges and universities throughout the United States. For more information about SHC meetings, responsibilities, and opportunities, e-mail us at Student Honors Council, visit our Web site, or check out our Facebook group: Ball State Student Honors Council. SHC President for 2014-2015:  Emily Brumfield.
