Service+Citizenship

Do you want to make a difference in the world? Would you like to have a positive impact on the people who live in and around the Muncie community?

Getting involved through community service is a great way to get the most out of your Ball State experience. You can make new friends while serving others and have fun at the same time. Whether you are an incoming first-year student or a seasoned graduate student, Student Voluntary Services (SVS) has a service program for you!

Who is in SVS?

Out of the 300+ student organizations housed within the Office of Student Life, SVS is one of the largest. Established in 1965, SVS sends more than 2,000 Ball State students into the community to serve others. These students come from all academic disciplines and majors. Some students serve through SVS to complete service-learning requirements for their classes while others sign up with us just for fun!

Why should I serve my community?

Serving the community is a great way to meet new friends, make community connections, and have some fun! Whether you are tutoring children, visiting the elderly in long-term care facilities, or donating your time at local food banks or soup kitchens, you will gain practical work-related skills that will benefit you in the future.
