Distance Education

While Ball State remains primarily a residential campus with most classes taught onsite at the Muncie campus, the university, through the School of Extended Education, provides several opportunities for students to take Ball State courses away from campus. Distance education courses are provided through the internet, web conferencing, independent learning, and at sites in the Indianapolis area.

Many individuals with disabilities have benefited from the ability to take courses from home or from a location closer to home. However, there are distinct challenges and issues that some students with disabilities may encounter while taking courses via distance education. The information below addresses these issues and has been designed both for prospective distance education students and instructors.

Disabled Student Development (DSD) coordinates the university's efforts to accommodate students with disabilities, including students taking courses via distance education. If you would like to discuss disability-related accommodations, contact DSD at 765-285-5293 (phone), 765-285-2206 (TTY), or via e-mail.
