Our Programs

Our students arrive at Ball State with talent, ambition, and curiosity. Our goal—and our responsibility—is to provide them with programs and courses that will reward and develop all three of those qualities. With about 180 majors, including 11 preprofessional programs, more than 100 master's and doctoral degrees, and a variety of minors and certificates, several of which are nationally recognized, we think we do a pretty good job.

U.S. News & World Report has recognized our online master’s program in nursing, undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship programs, graduate program in secondary education, and undergraduate business program as being some of the best in the nation. Speaking of the best, in the 2009 edition of America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools, Design Intelligence named our architecture program a "world-class school" plus it ranked our undergraduate landscape architecture program in the nation's top 10 and our graduate program in landscape architecture in the nation's top 5. Students, faculty, and staff in Ball State’s telecommunications program have won 24 regional Emmy Awards and have received 80 nominations since 2000.

But Ball State is about so much more than recognitions and awards—we’re also about sharing our time and talents to better the community and the state's economy.

We’ve made direct contributions to the welfare of Indiana by cultivating entrepreneurship, leading the redevelopment of downtowns, helping small towns secure broadband technology, and much, much more. The state-supported Building Better Communities initiative gives Ball State an opportunity to lend our extensive expertise and resources to making Indiana cities and towns better places to live and work. And our Building Better Communities Fellows program engages teams of students and professors in solving problems or creating opportunities for businesses and organizations across the state.
