U.S. Citizens must first apply to and be accepted to Ball State University by Graduate School.
International Citizens must first apply and be accepted to Ball State University by the Rinker Center for International Programs.
Once accepted to Ball State University by Graduate School or the Rinker Center for International Programs, applicants then may submit additional application materials (see requirements below) to the Department of Architecture for consideration of admission into the master of science in historic preservation (MSHP) degree program.

- A writing sample from an academic course
- A statement of purpose: brief description of your background, rationale for the pursuit of graduate studies, and education and professional objectives

No GRE is required.
