Alyssa Ivanson took part in NewsLink Indiana, one of Ball State's immersive learning opportunities. Students in the program spend an entire semester working only on NewsLink, which provides local news and weather cut-ins for WIPB, the PBS station at Ball State.

Alyssa was hired by WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and began working as a producer and news reporter before graduation. Alyssa made arrangements to earn her final credits early so that she could begin her professional career.
