There’s no question that classroom instruction is top-notch. But we know that a lot of important learning takes place outside of the classroom.
At Ball State, student organizations provide a healthy combination of social interaction and activities that enhance the learning process. Those organizations connected to the Department of Journalism connect you with peers sharing similar interests and offer opportunities to network with industry professionals among other activities.
Our wide-ranging student media opportunities also link you with students with similiar interests and career goals and provide you with opportunities to work with others and enhance your skills. The student-run newspaper, magazine, Web magazine, and public relations/advertising agency are award-winning, critical parts of student life within the department.
Throughout your time at Ball State, you will receive extensive training and experience in research methods, because we believe research skills are critical within journalism fields. And many of our students take advantage of Ball State’s study-abroad opportunities, in hopes of developing the kind of global perspective required to excel in today’s communication-related jobs.
