Susan Powell Mantel

Susan Powell Mantel, PhD, is an associate professor of marketing at the Miller College of Business, Ball State University. She joined the college in 2009.  Previously, she was an associate professor of marketing at the Kelley School of Business from 2003-2009 and the University of Toledo from 1994-2003.

Mantel's research interests include consumer information processing, influences of affect on consumer responses, judgment and inference processes, decision making in a sales setting, and marketing and sales strategy. She has authored several articles in these areas which have been published in business and marketing journals including Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Business Research, Psychonometric Bulletin and Review, Technological Forecasting and Social Change: An International Journal, and Psychology & Marketing, as well as national conference proceedings of the Association of Consumer Research, the American Marketing Association and the Society for Consumer Psychology.

Mantel has worked in the area of marketing research for ten years prior to beginning her academic career. She has worked as an account manager at BASES, Burke Institute, Inc. and more recently as a client group supervisor for Information Resources, Inc. She has brought her business experience into the classroom by teaching in the areas of marketing strategy, consumer behavior and marketing systems. Mantel received her bachelor's degree in computer science and business from Bowling Green State University and her MBA and doctorate in marketing from The University of Cincinnati.
