You can renew your school counselor license while completing the state-approved mentor training. In addition to earning college credit, a certified mentor can earn 90 Professional Growth Plan points (45 for completing the training and 45 for mentoring someone for 2 years) or 12 CRUs for attending the training.
Qualifications
Participants must meet the following criteria:
- licensed as a school counselor in the state of Indiana
- have at least three years of school counseling experience
- not currently a certified mentor
- open-minded and willing to learn new strategies
- committed to helping others grow in their profession
Admission and Registration
Apply for admission to the Graduate School online. Upon admission, you will be given a Ball State username and password. You will need this information to register online.
Costs
Tuition is $256 per credit hour for Indiana residents and $454 per credit hour for non-Indiana residents. You may pay your tuition online during the registration process using Visa, MasterCard, or an e-check. If you do not pay online during the registration process, you will be billed by the bursar’s office. An e-mail notification is sent to your Ball State e-mail account when your current statement is ready to be viewed.
There is also a $10 per student association fee. Make checks payable to the Indiana Mentoring and Assessment Program for School Counselors (or IMAP-SC) for $10 and mail to Ball State University, Department of Counseling Psychology, Charlene Alexander, Muncie, IN 47306.
