Indian River Camp and Canoe

Get ready to stretch beyond your comfort zone. You and other incoming Ball State students can embark on one of three outdoor adventure trips sponsored by the Office of Recreation Services. Students will have the opportunity to canoe down the Indian River in Michigan, camp, and enjoy the beautiful surrounding of the Hiawatha National Forest.

During your outdoor adventure trips, you will meet and connect with other new students, learn more about your upcoming college experience, and enjoy some exciting outdoor recreational activities. It’s the perfect way to jump-start your life as a student at Ball State. Space is limited to 17 students per session.

Please note: Program dates will be selected in spring 2010. Registration will be open beginning May 1, 2010. To participate in this program complete the online registration form and mail your payment to the Office of Student Life. Once you register and we receive your payment, more information will be sent to you. Direct questions to Ball State's Office of Recreation Services at 765-285-1753. 

Program Fee (includes travel, activities, meals on site, and lodging/camping): $275

Itinerary:

Day 1

9 a.m. Arrive at Ball State
9:30 a.m. Travel to the Indian River Canoe Trailhead at Fish Lake (Michigan)
Noon  Lunch
6 p.m.  Dinner
7:30 p.m. Arrive at the Indian River Canoe Trailhead at Fish Lake
8 p.m. Introduction to trip, campsite set up, and evening activities  

Day 2 

8:30 a.m. Breakfast
9 a.m. Canoe Excursion (including river activities)
Noon  Lunch (on river)
1 p.m. Continue canoe excursion
5 p.m. Dinner
6:30 p.m. Understanding Your Strengths activity and introduction to Ball State
9 p.m. Evening activities

Day 3

8:30 a.m. Breakfast and campsite tear down
9 a.m. Canoeing
11 a.m. Travel to Ball State
Noon Lunch
6 p.m. Dinner
9 p.m. Arrive at Ball State
