Cardinal Commitment: Developing Champions

Our $20 million Cardinal Commitment campaign will run through December 2014 and will include thoughtful, strategic improvements for softball, baseball, men's and women's golf, football, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's volleyball.

Reasons to make a commitment today:

Ball State student-athletes are committed to excellence.

Give online to Ball State.

Our student-athletes' passion isn't expressed only on the playing fields or courts; their passion extends to the classroom as well.

Just a few facts about our athletics program and student-athletes:

  • Ball State is one of only 120 colleges and universities that are members of the NCAA's Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
  • In the last 16 years, 50 Cardinal teams have won or shared Mid-American Conference championships.
  • In spring of 2012, we honored 123 student-athletes for a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. Ten of these student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
  • 11 of our 19 teams earned a perfect Academic Progress Rate single-year score of 1,000, and all of our teams posted strong multiyear scores.

We are committed to our student-athletes.

Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends, we have made several significant improvements to our athletic facilities since 2007. This has included renovations to Scheumann Stadium, the Fisher Football Training Complex, Worthen Arena, and the Briner Sports Complex. These improvements have helped us make an enormous impact on the Ball State experience for student-athletes and student fans alike. But we have much more to accomplish.

"Our Cardinal student-athletes are remarkable in their dedication. They must hit the weights before dawn and study when others have closed their laptops. Just as our student-athletes are committed to Ball State, we now have the opportunity to be committed to them."
- President Emerita Jo Ann Gora

We need your commitment to Ball State athletics.

"Competition is more than what transpires on the field of play during games, matches, contests or tournaments. Competition for all 19 of our programs extends to the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and the level of our facilities directly impacts how successful we are when competing against other MAC schools for the services of those recruits.

"The admission standards to Ball State are as competitive as they have ever been and that is due in part to the great academic and residence hall facilities the university has added over the last decade. This is our time to get our athletics facilities up to that same standard and to show the commitment our campus and community have to our sports programs. Together, we can continue building a vibrant campus environment that benefits not only our student-athletes but everyone who makes Ball State so special."
- Brian Hardin, Interim Director of Athletics

We need your support! Although Ball State receives some state support, public dollars do not fund any athletic projects.
