Investment in Transformative Experiences

Immersive learning has revolutionized the traditional teacher-centered classroom. Our students are stretched and thoroughly prepared for the challenges and opportunities that await them as the new leaders of the 21st century. Participation in this transformative and innovative experience allows our students to distinguish themselves from their peers.

Between 2007 and 2011, more than 12,000 students have completed more than 700 immersive learning projects throughout Indiana and at as far reaching locales as Hong Kong, Venice, and Malawi. The contributions to Ball State Bold have moved the university closer to providing every undergraduate student with an immersive learning opportunity, but additional resources and support are still needed for that goal to be realized.

Not only does the immersive learning initiative provide our students with real-world experience; it has a positive impact on the state of Indiana, where the overwhelming majority of projects have taken place. The results affect citizens in every county. To date, projects have been conducted in 69 of Indiana’s 92 counties.

Some of the recent immersive learning projects include Project 18 with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent and Marsh, Cloud Computing with NPower Indiana, The Circus in Winter with the university’s Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry, and Sports Link’s partnership with local and national media.
