Christy Woods is a 17-acre outdoor classroom and laboratory that provides opportunities for hands-on learning and observation of nature and natural processes for students. It includes a mature deciduous forest, tallgrass prairie, wetlands, greenhouses, agricultural ground, and an orchid greenhouse. The Wheeler-Thanhauser Collection was created to conserve rare and endangered species of orchids. The property is one of six managed by the Field Station and Environmental Education Center.
