Ball State University alumna Georgia M. Burns has donated more than $76,000 through her estate to establish three new scholarships: the Raymond E. Burns and Georgia M. Burns Memorial Scholarship, Georgia M. Burns Scholarship in Memory of Grace Woody and Harry Howick Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships will provide financial assistance to select Ball State students in different areas of study.
Burns graduated from Ball State in 1936, where she majored in business education, physical education and home economics. She had a long career in education, teaching in Indiana and Washington state schools before retiring in 1976.
The Raymond E. Burns and Georgia M. Burns Memorial Scholarship will support students pursuing a major in physics. The Georgia M. Burns Scholarship in Memory of Grace Woody will benefit students with demonstrated financial need pursuing a major in business education or physical education. The Harry Howick Memorial Scholarship will be available to incoming freshmen with demonstrated financial need.
Availability of these scholarships is dependent upon an awards selection process established by Ball State. For more information about these scholarships and others available at Ball State, contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at 765-285-5600 or visit www.bsu.edu/finaid.
