Ball State University Professor of English Emerita Linda Hanson and others have donated funds in excess of $25,000 to establish the Hanson Rhetoric and Composition Award. This award will provide financial support for graduate students conducting applied or theoretical research in the area of rhetoric and composition within the Department of English to further their own studies and disseminate their work.
Hanson was a member of the department's rhetoric and composition program and has also worked with the Indiana Writing Project.
Availability of the Hanson Rhetoric and Composition Award is dependent upon an award selection process established by Ball State. Any English rhetoric and composition master's or doctoral student may apply by completing a brief application and attaching a description of the research project and need for funding.
Examples of eligible expenditures include travel (to use libraries, to gather data or to attend conferences where information may be available), texts or materials, photocopying, equipment and software.
For more information about this award, contact the Department of English at 765-285-8580.
