Flags fly at half staff in honor of Navy Yard shooting victims
September 17, 2013
Governor Mike Pence is directing flags at state facilities statewide to be flown at half-staff beginning Tuesday, September 17 in honor of the victims of yesterday's shooting at the Washington Navy Yard. Flags should remain at half-staff until sunset Friday, September 20.
Governor Pence also asks businesses and residents across the state to lower their flags to half-staff to honor the victims of this tragedy.
President Barack Obama issued a proclamation yesterday requiring flags to be flown at half-staff "on all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, September 20, 2013."
