Editors Joe Hight and Yvette Walker of the award-winning The Oklahoman and NewsOK.com presented "Tomorrow’s Newspaper Today: How NewsOK.com Blazed a Multi-Media Trail for Dailies" in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Ballroom.

Hight, director of information and development, has been a reporter and managing editor or director for more than 30 years. He leads the newspaper’s information-based programs, marketing and promotions, training and ethics/standards teams, internship program, and other areas involving online development. Hight was a key leader in the efforts that won The Oklahoman the 2009 APME Innovator of the Year Award presented by the Associated Press Managing Editors for its total approach to multimedia. He served for two terms as president of the Dart Center for Journalism & Trauma, an international organization based at Columbia University with offices in London and Melbourne.

Walker, director of presentation and custom publishing, is responsible for the overall look and feel of The Oklahoman. She headed up the newspaper’s most recent redesign to a 44-inch web. She was a key member of the staff that elevated NewsOK.com to become one of the best online newspapers in the country.
