Internships provide hands-on practical experience for students interested in exploring the museum profession. Internships, for university students, are available for credit or no credit. An internship is 150 hours and must be completed over the normal course of the semester during normal business hours at the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University.
BSU students interested in an internship should complete the online volunteer and internship application, and submit a resume, transcript, two professional and/or academic letters of reference with a cover letter stating your museum internship interests as they relate to your career goals. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The internship is paid $7.25 per hour for at least 10 hours per week.
Applications are accepted for the following times:
If the deadline falls on a weekend, please submit application materials on the Friday before. The internship program is competitive. Each student will be contacted in the month following the deadline for applications.
David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University internships are a project-based, prearranged, structured learning experience, scheduled within a specific time frame. They should be relevant to both the intern's stated academic and professional goals, and to the museum's needs and interests.
Note: Selected interns are subject to a background check and will be asked to complete a Ball State University Background Check Consent and Release Form.
