Internship Program
Internships provide hands-on practical experience for students interested in exploring the museum profession. Internships, for university students, are available for credit or no credit. And internship is 150 hours and must be completed over the normal course of the semester during normal business hours at the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University.
Students interested in an internship should complete the online volunteer application, and submit a resume, transcript, two letters of reference with a cover letter stating your museum internship interests as they relate to your career goals. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Full-time students from any University with at least a 3.0 G.P.A may apply. Typically no stipend is available.
Applications are accepted for the following times:
- Fall Internship: June 15
- Spring Internship: October 19
- Summer Internship: February 15
The internship program is competitive. Each student will be contacted in the month following the deadline for applications.
David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University internships are a project-based, prearranged, structured learning experience, scheduled within a specific timeframe. They should be relevant to both the intern's stated academic and professional goals, and to the museum's needs and interests.
Note: Applicants are subject to a background check.
