Volunteer docents are essential at the David Owsley Museum of Art, especially for tours, special events, and outreach.
The docent program allows a small number of select Ball State University students and community members to volunteer and lead group tours of the museum. These museum teachers and students undergo extensive training. They meet once a week with the director of education and education program coordinator to learn about the collection and effective methods of conducting an engaging tour.
Meetings for those interested in becoming a docent are typically on the first Thursday of the semester at 3:30 p.m. Training is provided on the same day and the time throughout the fall and spring semesters.
Please email us with questions or for more information.
All volunteers must pass a criminal background check. Prospective docents who are students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
