Graduate Assistantship available August 12, 2018.


The graduate assistant filling this position will be acting as the team leader for the undergraduate students working in the BSU Technology Store. This requires that the GA be proficient with the functions of the Technology Store point of sales system, know the products sold in the store, and understand the store policies and procedures. The GA must also be able to train new employees and update store processes when necessary. There may also be an opportunity to have a fluctuating job schedule including some evenings and weekends and be the manager on duty, which requires a high level of autonomy and judgment. Training will be provided to help you succeed.

Another key function of this position is the ability to talk to customers and assist them with their purchases while providing excellent customer service at all times. The GA will also be expected to help manage the inventory and make sure that the store is properly stocked and arranged neatly. The store must comply with specific vendor guidelines and this position will be expected to help ensure that they are met. There will be other duties as assigned. Upon successful completion of evaluation, this GA position is eligible to be renewed for a second year.

Specific Duties:

  • Manage and know Inventory
  • Operate and understand the point of sales system
  • Supervise existing and future student employees
  • Uphold and enforce the policies and procedures set in place.
  • Train new employees
  • Update policies and procedures as needed
  • Provide customer service
  • Help to uphold vendor guidelines
  • Assist with Marketing/Promotions for the Technology Store
  • Represent the Technology Store at scheduled Events
  • Assist Technology Store Manager and Technology Store Coordinator with daily tasks
  • Other Duties as assigned

Requirements: Must have been accepted into the Graduate School and enrolled in classes; must be available to work summers and available for evening shifts to close the Technology Store; have customer Service experience; be self motivated and strong work ethic; and able to obtain 250 points in Apple SEED training within first month of hire, then obtain 250 new points each quarter moving forward (materials will be provided).  Prefer candidates with advertising experience and Adobe Creative Suite experience.

Compensation:  $5,050 per semester plus fee remission for 20 hours per week; $7.25 per hour during summer and breaks.
