The Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) is an economic policy and forecasting research center at Ball State University. CBER research includes public finance, regional economics, manufacturing, transportation, and energy sector studies. View CBER's current studies and publications.

The Center produces the CBER Data Center—a suite of web-based data tools—and the Indiana Business Bulletin—a weekly newsletter with commentary on current issues and regularly updated data for dozens of economic indicators.

In addition to research and data delivery, CBER serves as a business forecasting authority in Indiana's east central region—holding the annual Indiana Economic Outlook luncheon and quarterly meetings of the Ball State University Business Roundtable.

National Recognition

Ball State's Center for Business and Economic Research is a member of the Association for University Business and Economic Research.  Since 1947, AUBER members engage in a diverse array of applied economic research and provide their communities with public presentations, forums, economic forecasts, and workshops in areas of interest to the business community.

The Center is also a member of the University Economic Development Association, an organization representing higher education, private sector, and community economic development stakeholders.  Since 1976, UEDA members work to expand economic opportunity in their communities by leveraging research, community resources, campus planning, talent development, and technology commercialization.

CBER projects have been recognized for their quality by our peers in both organizations.  View CBER's awards and recognition.
