Launched in the spring of 2017, the Digital Writing Studio is a working and tutoring space for students, faculty, and staff who want to learn how to use digital technologies and to create digital projects. Located in Robert Bell 116, the Digital Writing Studio is equipped with five iMac workstations that offer access to Adobe software and other digital composing tools.
Tutors who staff the Digital Writing Studio are available to help explain how to navigate and use effectively digital composing tools as well as troubleshoot technological impasses. In addition, tutors can help brainstorm project ideas, provide feedback on the content and design of a digital project, and facilitate collaboration for group projects and presentations. Common digital and multimodal projects include (but are not limited to) producing a video, designing a website or infographic, constructing a digital portfolio, creating a blog, leveraging social media, developing fliers and brochures, selecting and editing images, and writing and recording a podcast.
However, those who attend the Digital Writing Studio are not required to interact with a tutor, as the Digital Writing Studio is also open to those seeking to work independently to complete projects or to improve overall capabilities in digital communication.
If you’re interested in reserving a workstation, you can make an appointment through our online scheduler. Walk-ins are also accepted, though preference is given to those with appointments when space is limited.
The Digital Writing Studio is directed by Dr. Rory Lee, Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition.
