Since autumn 1991, I have taught freshman composition courses at Ball State University. My approach to freshman writing encourages students to see themselves as competent, developing communicators who effectively use a variety of rhetorical tools to express a worthwhile message to a specific audience.
As a humanities instructor, I help fulfill the Honors College mission to provide a traditional liberal arts foundation to Honors College students. This includes an awareness of the major cultural movements in Western History as well as an appreciation for the arts and their significance.
My fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction have been published in a number of literary journals and ‘zines. My most recent effort, supported by the Indiana Arts Commission, is a creative nonfiction collection-in-progress.
