Our admission process is a two-tier system. You must meet the Graduate School's requirements as well as the criteria of the Department of History below.
Applicants normally need at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale in a minimum of 18 credit hours (or equivalent) in history courses. We also want you to submit a writing sample to us after you are accepted to the Graduate School.
To qualify for a graduate assistantship in our department, you must take the general test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and ordinarily have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
You must be admitted by the Graduate School before our department can recommend admission to our program. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must apply through the Rinker Center for International Programs before you are eligible for consideration for our department.
