Boren Scholarships and Fellowships (NSEP)
Undergraduate and graduate study abroad of languages, cultures, and world regions outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Undergraduate Scholarships deadline: February 9, 2017 (campus deadline: January 10, 2017)
Graduate Fellowships deadline: January 31, 2017 (campus deadline: January 10, 2017)

Critical Language Scholarship
Fully-funded summer program for undergraduate and graduate students to go abroad and study a language critical to United States national security.
Deadline:November 16, 2016

DAAD Scholarships
Study or research in Germany in any field. Various scholarship opportunities are available to both graduates and undergraduates.
Deadline: Varies by scholarship program
Major graduate study deadlines: October 31 or November 4, 2016
Major undergraduate study deadlines: January 31, 2017

Fulbright Program
Study, research, or teach English abroad (beyond the bachelor's degree) in any field to increase cross-cultural understanding. Recipients usually plan their own program of study.
Deadline: October 11, 2016 (campus deadline: September 2, 2016 at noon)

Gates Cambridge Scholarships
One to four years of study at Cambridge University, beyond a first bachelor's degree, to improve the lives of the world's citizens.
Deadline: October 12, 2016

Gilman Scholarships
Supports study abroad for undergraduate students receiving Federal Pell Grants.
Deadlines: October 4, 2016 (for spring) and March 1, 2017 (for fall) and either deadline for summer.

Goldwater Scholarships
Undergraduate study aimed at a career in science, math, or engineering.
Deadline: January 26, 2018 (campus deadline: November 15, 2017)

Madison Fellowships
Master's level study for individuals who plan to teach American history, American government, and/or social studies in grades 7-12.
Deadline: March 1, 2017

Marshall Scholarships
Undergraduate and graduate study in any discipline at a university in the United Kingdom.
Deadline: October 3, 2016 (campus deadline: August 26, 2016)
Pre-application for 2017 competition: April 21, 2017

Mitchell Scholarships
Graduate study in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Deadline: September 30, 2016 (campus deadline: August 26, 2016)
Pre-application for 2017 competition: April 21, 2017

National Science Foundation (NSF) Fellowships
Graduate research in the mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, and behavioral and social sciences. For women, also graduate research in engineering or computer and information science and engineering.
Deadline: October 23-27, 2017 (varies by discipline; see website)

Rhodes Scholarships
Graduate study at Oxford University.
Deadline: October 5, 2016 (campus deadline: August 26, 2016)
Pre-application for 2017 competition: April 21, 2017

Rotary Scholarships
Graduate study abroad to address issues confronting developing nations and world peace.
Global Ambassadorial Scholarship local club deadline: early January

Schwarzman Scholarships
Graduate study in China for students in public policy, economics, business, and international studies.
Deadline: September 15, 2016

Soros Fellowships
Graduate study by immigrants or first-generation Americans.
Deadline: November 1, 2016

Truman Scholarships
Graduate study leading to a career in government, education, the nonprofit sector, or the public interest/advocacy sector with the aim of improving the conditions of society.
Deadline: February 7, 2017 (campus deadline: January 9, 2017)

Udall Scholarships
Undergraduate study leading to a career related to the environment, Native American health care, or tribal public policy.
Deadline: March 15, 2017 (campus deadline: February 8, 2017)

U.K. Fulbright Summer Institutes
3-6 week institutes for U.S. students to participate in an academic program and learn about the culture of the U.K.
