There are two tracks to think about when you are going into TCOM:

  1. The News Track.  If you decide that you want to be a multimedia journalist, then you would start your time here taking the news classes your freshman year.
  2. If you are interested in digital production (digital audio, digital video, emerging media, or digital sports), sales and promotion, or film and media studies, you will want to start taking your pre-TCOM classes your freshman year.  After you complete those courses, you will declare your option and start taking those classes.

Remember that you are at a liberal arts university.  You need to take science, math, modern or classic languages, English, and other classes to round you out as a person of the world.  This is very important for you as a communicator.  If you want TCOM as a career, you need to be naturally curious about everything.
