Types of Service Programs

Would you like to volunteer on a regular basis? Are you feeling unsure about volunteering? Is this your first time to volunteer? Is your class or work schedule a little challenging? Regardless of your situation, Student Voluntary Services (SVS) has a volunteer program to fit your needs!

Coordinated volunteer programs are scheduled, weekly community service opportunities. Volunteers in coordinated programs make a 12-week commitment while SVS staff members log your volunteer hours in our online database.

Independent volunteer programs are more flexible than coordinated programs. Volunteers in these programs arrange the days and times they will volunteer with the nonprofit agency in which they will serve. Volunteers track their service hours and submit their service hours verification sheet to the SVS office for their hours to be logged in the database.

One-Time Event programs are community service opportunities that begin and end on the same day. These programs are great for those students who want to give back and contribute to the community in a positive way but can not make a long-term commitment.

Alternative Break trips are intensive community service opportunities for students during the fall and spring breaks. An application process and multiweek orientation will be completed before the trip begins.

Are you ready to make a difference?  Are you ready to give back to your community?
