Greetings from the Director
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the newly designed School of Music website and to introduce you to the Ball State School of Music community. The university’s mission is one that focuses on student-centered learning and community engagement. As I near the end of my third year as Director of the School of Music and my eleventh year at Ball State University, I’ve had the privilege to witness the realization of this mission by our exceptional students and faculty.
The School of Music presents over 300 public events each year and is a hub for creativity and entrepreneurial learning. Students are presented with numerous performance opportunities that range from on-campus concerts to outreach performances, concert tours, and guest artist master classes and residencies. We have a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees as well as a recently launched certificate in entrepreneurial music and jazz concentration. We have over 350 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. Because of this, our students reap the benefits of performing in mixed ensembles and having close contact with students at varying degree levels.
Our nationally known and award-winning faculty are active in their respective fields and possess a wealth of professional knowledge and experiences. They are dedicated to each student’s artistic and educational journey and work closely with students to ensure they are adequately prepared for 21st century careers in music. With a six to one student to teacher ratio, students study one-on-one with faculty and develop meaningful relationships that continue after graduation.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our faculty, students, programs, admissions process, facilities, and ensembles. If you’re interested in setting up a tour of our state-of-the art performance and recording facilities and/or an information session, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. On behalf of everyone at the School of Music, welcome!
