Tania Said Schuler, director of education, has been at the David Owsley Museum of Art in Muncie, Indiana since 2005. In this role, she facilitates access for adults, including college students, schools and families through museum interpretation, public programs, teacher and docent training, and tours.
Ms. Said’s earlier career was in Washington, D.C., including community services manager at the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies, director of the Bead Museum, and various other positions at the Corcoran Gallery of Art/Washington Project for the Arts, Institute of Museum and Library Services, Corporation for National Service, and American Association of Museums. She holds an M.A. in Museum Studies with concentrations in Museum Management & Leadership and Visual Culture from The George Washington University. Her B.A. is in Telecommunications and Art History with honors from Ball State University, which lead to a Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D) award.
Ms. Said’s current professional service is as an Art Education Association of Indiana board member, and she recently completed a term as a Museum Education Roundtable board member serving on the governance, strategic planning, and annual report committees. Her civic involvement includes serving as a past president and member of the Muncie Art Students’ League, and volunteering her time to various local cultural, educational, and human service organizations. She is also an advisor to the Ball State University Museum Club.
